I currently am working on my project and now stumped on how to fix this issue. I have an 1980 z28 and it has a 3rd Gen Borg Warner 5 speed in it. I can not figure out what I need in order to connect my spedo cable and make this work. I've check my rear code and it has 2PE on it which should be 3:42. Can anyone provide me with any information on what i could do whether it be using a spedo housing from another year mode ect. Thanks.

 

Does it have a gear or a VSS plug in on the tail shaft?

 

I believe it is a plug.

 

I'm not sure you can get a box to convert the signal to a driven gear. The other option is an Autometer speedo that is used specifically on vehicles with a VSS.

 

Yeah im really not sure how this works, and also im sure about the VSS that you mentioned. I bought this vehicle about two yrs ago and this is the last big issue to tackle. I was told that i may be able to use another spedo housing from a newer model camaro. From what i do undersand is that this cable is to plug directly into the tranny but for some reason an adapter or something will be needed. I'll look into the autometer spedo and do some more research.
