Default Hood Swap

I have a decent fiber hood on my 74 Camaro and a few days ago i took it off and repainted it and decided i'd put it on the 78 Camaro. It doesn't seem to fit... It bulges near the front\middle on the left and right side. I've played around with it and keep making minor adjustments but i can't get rid of the bulge... it fit the 74 like a glove.
are the 74 and 78 hood dimensions different? What about 74 and 79 hood dimensions?

I've been noticing the strangest thing. Although the title on my 78 says it's a 78 and the VIN # match up, there are parts that are most certainly out of a 79, such as the dash...

That's what i thought, and like i said, it fit the 74 like a glove. However, the bulge on the edges is pretty bad. It's not hitting the rubber "bumpers" on the sides either...

Sounds like your front clip panel alignment on the 74 was pretty good, and on the 78....not so good.

Maybe someone massaged the header panel on the '74 to match the glass hood. Have you tried fitting the '79 hood on the '74 to see how it fit that car?

Well the hood is lighter weight, and the springs are meant to hold a much heavier hood, perhaps the bulge is due to the springs?

huh, the springs is a good place to start looking, however where the hood is bowing it's not touching anything, and the front and back end seem to line up just nicely...

i'll post pictures as soon as i get my camera back. My sister took it on her honey moon and i'm not interested in getting it back until she's gotten all her stuff off it.

Ummm.... Don't be hasty. Just because your not interested in your sisters pics doesn't mean...........j/k

I wonder if you have the room at your hood to header gap to adjust the hood latch and post forward, drawing the hood out and maybe removing the bow.
