Appreciate any help to ID this Holley 2 barrel. This came with a complete 1973 CHH 307ci. I think it is original to the engine, but the stamp tells me it is not.
I though Chevy used Rochester 2 barrels on all their 2 barrel applications at that time. I remember my 72 camaro with a 230 inline 6 and my 74 350 both had Rochester 2 barrels. Course the 74 went to a 4 barrel pretty fast.
I can also remember swapping my friends 73 307 from a Rochester 2 barrel to a small Holley 4 barrel and a set of headers. Turned out to be a noticeable upgrade. His timing was jumping around so we did the timing chain and gears and added 4 deg of base timing. I was like a different engine. He did have to run slightly higher octane gas to keep the engine from pinging. Regular gas was so bad in the early 80's.
Just look up a replacement carb for you car at any car parts website. Holley and Rochester are not interchangeable with out some alterations to a fuel line and the throttle linkage and I think intake are different if its an aftermarket carb.
Edit: I was curious so I did a search.
I saw a quote that said GM never used a Holley product on a non-performance engine.
Thanks for the reply. At this time I tend to agree with you that it is not a factory Chevy carburetor. Looking for more clues, I now think it was on a Mopar.
What threw me was the fact it was mounted on the engine along with all other accessories which were correct stamped/dated factory parts for the Feb, 1973 CHH stamped engine as the starter, distributor, alternator, smog pump, ERG, intake, air cleaner, heads and everything else I looked at. The guy was a hot rodder who bought the car new and did pull the engine early on to put a higher performance one in so anything might have happened in the past.

I wonder if Holley possibly made some direct replacement carbs for the Rochester.
There was no adapter and the linkage was not altered. It took awhile to find tools at the owners house that worked so I recall thinking it was never off. I mostly wanted the complete smog system and had to buy everything including the engine stand. I had no local buyers for the stipped engine so I then tried short block, heads and intake, last step was the scrap yard. Here's a picture before I took it apart. I cleaned and painted parts like pan, valve covers, etc and did sell them to recover cost. I'll restore the smog. That smog pump pully has another stamp that doesn't add up, but again it looks like it was on since day one.
