Before I get all itchy from tire-envy, I have to ask if you actually measured yours, or are going just by the tire's numbers? The "295" dimension refers to the Section Width (295 mm) of the sidewalls of the tire, not the tread width. And my sidewalls roll down into the tread more so, as opposed to a more straight up and down sidewall.
And, if you already know this one, fine. Maybe somebody else doesn't...
295/50/15 breaks down as:
295 = cross-section width in millimeters
50 = aspect ratio-sidewall section height (from tread to rim) is 50% of the section width
15 = rim diameter
I'm not tryin to nit-pick, just want to make sense of the difference.

You have to remember tho, its not just the 295 part thats the width... its that with the ** series combined with the inches... IE... my vette has 295/35/19's on the back, and they are not as wide as these tires are...
i agree with 69. ive always been told the first number relates directly to width, and the 2nd number references wall hight as a percentage of width. so a 295/35 and a 295/50 have the same print, just different sidewall hights. maybe its the wheel spacer playing tricks....

scratch that. it IS the spacer. i checked out the pic again, they are big tires, but not as crazy-go-nuts wide as i had thought.

First pic, plastic tab is on sidewall 2 inches down on inside of tire... so just under 12 inches of tread, off ground, 13 with weight of car, Second pic, sidewall is 13 inches wide with no weight pushing them out, third pic, is my size 11 1/2 shoe next to tire...

ya, i thought u said 15 inches of rubber and i was like O_o

thats more reasonable. those do look like 295s in those pics. is there a reason for the spacer? personally id take it off unless you need it for clearance reasons

The spacers are needed, There minimal anyways, it gives me just an 1/8th of an inch of clearance inside, before they start rubbing... I thought they were 15 inches... I was mistaken, but they are wider than 10 inches, I knew that, lol...
