Default help! Why is this transmission leaking

Just starting my new 350 crate install. I filled the transmission (TH-350) with 2 gallons of Merc/Dex and it started to leak from this little hole. It is located about 12 inches back from the the front of the transmission where it bolts up to the engine. From the driver's seat it is about the 10 o'clock position. I didn't take any bolts out of it when I took the old engine out. Is it an overflow? Why is it leaking. fired the engine up and a minute later the trasmission started blowing fluid out this hole. What is going on? ow do iI remedy this?

Thanks,

Ed

Thats only 8 quarts. It should take 10 IIRC. Did you fill the converter first? Was it new or used? I hope you didn't just dump 2 gallons down the fill tube. The hole your refering to is a vent. I have only seen that one other time on a crappy rebuilt 700r4.

If you haven't done it already, you may want to check the fluid level using the dipstick. Transmission hot and in neutral with egine running.

You should not have put so much fluid in it to start. Best to drain out a few quarts and start over. Then you can check the tranny level at idle and add a quart at a time until it's full.
