I'm looking at those also (both Pertronix & MSD) but my understanding was pro billets are different than hei's - in that they are just a pointless distributor versus a coil on cap - and that they produce a lower spark duration?

The coil on my pro billit is external and I have a ignition box also the probillit is superior than a stock gm hei unit in higher rpm performance applications.

An MSD Pro Billet is a HEI ( High Energy Ignition ) with an external coil. GM put the coil into the cap on HEI's for a number of reasons, one of which, was to eliminate the problem of loose coil wires in Grandma's Impala. I have a GM HEI in My '69 427 Camaro, but it's a factory big block car. I don't know if the small blocks were set farther back or not. My firewall isn't modified.
