Dude, that is totally slick what you've done with the wheels. I think the trade off for the bigger tires for disc brakes is worth it in this case in my opinion. Again, beautiful car and I'd love to see it in person. I am very, very envious.

how much were the shaved handles JR? i found a kit on slickcar.com http://www.slickcar.com/productdetai...ProductID=3728 for $150 but there for 40lb doors. do you think a 81 camaro's doors are 40lbs or more? and i agree very beautiful car!

Thanks for the compliments guys!

Jason, the pound rating of a shaved door kit is the solenoid pull. A solenoid with a rating of 50 pounds will pull harder than a 35 pound. I used 35 pound solenoids on my car which work great. I did weld a piece of steel to the latch that added about an inch onto the latch arm. By doing that the pull needed was less. I wish I had taken pics of the setup, it all mounted very easy. I could diagram the system out for you and email it to you if you wish.

As far as price, $150 seems kind of high. I bought my kit through work (we are a dealer) for around $80. About the only difference from the one you are looking at is that mine has 4 channels. I used two for doors and two to remotely run the air system (raise or lower car).

your welcome..how long did it take you to get your car in that condition? oh ok so then 40 lb would be ok? since the door handle is being removed, aren't there holes or something where the old door lock and handle was? yeah if you could diagram it out and send it to me that would be great. email on here or thru my main email?

really? its on sale too on that site, it says its normally $299..yeah but you might get it at a discount since your a dealer. oh thats cool. i dont have the air system though so would only need 2 channels.

That's awesome JR, I think I'll do that with my '75 once I get the body work done. Did you jsut fill in the old door-handle spots with body filler, or did you get something custom welded, or some other way of doing it?

We are not a dealer through slickcar, but another place. I can check on pricing and get back to you. I will give my best possible price to anyone here as long as the admin does not come down on me for selling here.

After the handles were removed, I welded in metal. Filler alone would crack sooner or later.

This project was a special one for me and took a little longer than it should. I originally bought the car, backed out on the deal, then decided to dive into it. Total time for restoration was 20 months of evenings and weekends, minus time for other obligations.

ok well let me know how much it would cost JR did you do the welding yourself? i cant weld so could i just take it somewhere and have it welded for me?

well the time definatly shows JR since your car is pretty sweet it will probably take me around the same time to get mine restored since im in school and only have limited funds at the moment but its very exciting and every upgrade i can get will be like christmas
