MIKE: Wish I were 19 again when Muscle Cars reigned and Sunoco 260 was 35 cents a gallon.
I bought that 70 Z in 76 for $1,600. It didn't have the original LT1 but a L78 out of a 66 Vette so I did what Balwin Motion was doing and put in a 454 into a Z28. I believe I did them one better )). It has an Eagle forged crank and rods, TRW 10.25:1 Static Compression, Donovan Cam Gear Drive, 7 1/4" BHJ SFI Damper, Manley 2.19/1.88 Severe duty Pro flow Valves, Titanium Retainers, Pro Mag Roller Rockers, Jomar Girdle, 7/16th Isky Push Rods, the old AR288-10 mechanical Roller, Crower HIPPO Roller Tappets, a Holley 4150 NASCAR 830CFM Annular Booster 4 corner Idle Carb on an Edelbrock RPM Air Gap, Mallory HyFire VI with Remote Retard Advance in Glove Box, 6qt Morroso Side Kick with Diamond Stripper, M21 to a 3:31 12 Bolt Posi. If you have the nerve, it will rev 7000rpm on to days pump gas. I plan to change out the cam for a Crane Forget Billet Roller some day but in no hurry. The car has 22000 original miles on the body. Every piece was disassembled, stripped to metal, Epoxed and painted with Imron or Ceramic Urethane.
It's Old School, Terrifyingly FAST and World Class which depicts the Era as apposed to the theme most restores prefer today.

This is my 1971 Camro, which I bought in 1973. It has a dealer installed 427 ci, 425 hp engine, with Edelbrock Torker, Dougs headers, a few internal changes with cam, heads, pistons, etc. It also has a 4 point rollbar and harnesses, and a Transgo full competition Turbo 400, with 12 bolt posi using a PowerTrax unit, and 331 gears. Wheels were custom built rally sports widened to 10" in back and stainless steel rings and caps. N50 Mickey Thompsons in the rear, and heavy duty sway bars front and back.
It's back in the garage now, as I weld in the sun roof with a patch panel and prepare it for new paint in the future.
