Getting closer to paint

Getting closer to paint
Spent the week finishing the interior. Got the newly covered seats installed, and the new door panels done. I hated the old full length armrests of the 1970's Camaros, so I deleted them, and made up some custom rests using 1966 Chevelle armrests as a basis, and filled the front where their door release was. Also didn't like all the plastic pieces, so I used contact cement and covered them all with naugahyde to match the door panels.
I think it looks much cleaner and simpler. I'm going to use my hole punches to stamp out the speaker area so I wont have to install a grille over the door speakers. I tested the idea on the old door panels and it came out nicely, so I can do these while the car is in for paint.
Now I'll have to strip everything off for paint, but at least I know it all fits, and I wont have to be drilling and grinding around new paint. Found a shop just 4 blocks from my house that paints custom cars. My neighbor had his '69 Firebird, and his '57 Cadillac painted there for the Roadster show, and the guy is very good, and very reasonable!
Going in the 10th of October and it will be there a month. At least it's close enough I can make sure it's not going for joy rides!

It's a pretty small shop, so the paint booth wouldn't be a far push. The whole shop is only about 100 ft. square. That's a good idea, but I may do something more permanent, so they don't just grab a coil wire from another car.

just rember you have to put it back together i have like 4 switches befour you can even start my car and it will yank the tires right off the ground your best bet is have them push it.or you might get it back with a sliping trans or a liffter noise and they will say it was like that not my fault thats your problem.take my advice and make them push it

So tonight I'm out in the garage doing final disassembly to get ready for paint, and ripping all the weatherstripping, etc. off. While pulling seats, carpet, etc., I set the center console aside, and to my surprise something drops out on the floor. I reached down to pick it up and it turned out to be the original warranty policy folded neatly, with the dealer imprint plate attached to the back!
On the front was written, "Eugene King (address) and Fontana, Ca. plus VIn and a date of 8/18/71. The paperwork was done at a place called Crest Chevrolet, in San Bernardino, Ca., even though my build sheet says it was shipped to Courtesy Chev Center in San Diego.
Seems it was ordered by one dealer, and then transfered to another for sale to the original owner. I did a little search and both dealers are still in business, but haven't been able to locate the original owner.
I'll add this to the original paperwork I got from the first owner!
