Gauge Cluster Wiring
Ok, so I just bought some new tires and rims.( 17" Torq Thrust II with 245/40 michelins) anyhow, my gauge cluster is way off! I've yet to put these tires on, but I need some help. My gas gauge doesn't work, my speedometer reads 120 when I'm goin 45 and all the other gauges are off as well. Would it be best/ cheapest to buy an aftermarket set of gauges or is there any way of buying a wiring kit along with a sensor for the gas tank? Also, what gear do I need to fix the gauge. It went from original camaro cluster to z28 cluster.
Ok first things first. I take it you installed gauges in a car that came with idiot lights?
Its not a Z28 thing. Its call a U14 gauge cluster. U14 is the RPO for gauges, available in any car with a v8.
You simply need to swap the wires around in the plug going to the back of the
gauges. Here ya go step by step. 2GCOG - U14 Gauge Swap
The fuel tank doesn't get a sender when you go aftermarket. You must get one that is works on a 90 ohm scale.
What gear for your tranny?

Yeah, the only senders you will need is for oil and water temp, unless your factory fuel sender just doesn't work, but i would try the gauge first. If your speedo is that far off,i would guess a bad speedo,i can't imagine changing the gears in the tranny would change the reading by 75 mph,i could be wrong, just doesnt sound like it would unless it is a drastic gear change.
