Default Front Fender Wells

This is my first time posting and I need a little help. I thought I had done my research in purchasing front fender wells for my 1977 Chevy Camaro LT 350 4 speed. The old fender wells are very rusted so much that the front areas are just about gone. I have owned the car since I was 16 and have been lucky enough to keep it, I am 54 now. I purchased 106-x250-3570-R for right and -L for the left. I am relatively new to buying aftermarket parts and such.

I tried installing the right one first before trying to see if they were even close to the original. Well that was a big mistake. While some of the holes lined up the overall length was to long. I but the bullet and decided to cut off the front where the battery would sit and then modify the it later. On my original equipment there are two larger holes near where it mounts to the firewall the new part has 3 holes and none of them line up they are not even close. What I have realized now is that I won't be able to fit a battery into the area that is left up front. It seems that the fender well is really not a good fit for my car.

So I am thinking of buy a different set now. There are two different types that JEGs sells 555-78644 (I think that JEGS makes these) or 691-14005962 (I think these are made from OER). The 2 holes seem to be in the correct position. Does anyone have any advice? Am I expecting to much from these aftermarket parts?

I appreciate any comments.
John

Welcome to CF.
Wish I could help but all I know is much of that stuff is made in China and has a reputation for not fitting well.
There's some second gen guys in here that can probably point you in the right direction ,hopefully they chime in soon so hang out and enjoy browsing the forums.

Hey thanks for the reply. I am running out of time as the garage where the car is being worked on is growing impatient. Unless I hear from someone I think I am going to order a different set and see what happens.

I thought I would reply with what worked for me. I ended up buying the items below and they fit really well. Just to reiterate my car has the 2 hole firewall mount.
