Default Frame connectors

I would like to install frame connectors on my 78. What is the best style to buy,Im thinking the bolt on might be better. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

Bolt on is easier, but can still give and allow twist. Weld on can take more work (and a welder is needed) to install, but is much better and more effective. The third option would be to install bolt-ons, and weld them up later at a more convenient time. As long as "later" doesn't turn into "never".

With 500 hp the bolt on connectors should work just fine. Heck, up to 450HP you could get by without any. Weld on's are superior, but if you ever had an accident(heaven forbid!) and needed to pull a subframe, the weld on connectors would need to be cut off.
Competition Engineering makes both, and they're pretty good.

I've only got 400 horse and twisted the body a little....I would definitely recommend weld ons...especially if theres ever a chance of a bigger motor

16 yrs of racing my 427 with 465 HP didn't twist mine all that bad, and I ran most those years without frame connectors. Yeah, my body panels needed lined up when I did my latest resto, but not as bad as one might think if you listen to all the folks endorsing the connectors.

I ran in the high 12 sec. range with closed headers and slicks. Never could get it to run right with open headers, no matter what I did to jetting, and timing. Never wanted to get too exotic with tuning, as I drove it to work during the week!

if you go with bolt ons i would check into these ones they use holes that are already drilled in the rear frame railsalong with a U-bolt to connect the rear and as for the fron they bolt right onto the back of the front frame with 4 bolts each side, the good thing about these is that they're slightly bent so they fit real snug to your floors without having to do any cutting, overall it took me about hour and a half to install, i highly recommend them
