Default Floor Pans

I am wanting to install floor pans for my 81 Z28. I would like to do full length pans that go all the way to the firewall but I can only seem to find them for the 70-73 models. Does anybody know how much modification it would take to make the earlier pans fit or is there to much of a difference in them?

Thanks for any advice
Tim

This (Recreational-Projects) section is for non-Camaro build project threads. Moving your question to the 2nd gen section where it might be seen more.

69, your needed in new posts, isle "one piece drive shaft in today"

O/P, shouldn't take an extreme amount of modding, expect cutting and welding though.

Afraid there's quite a bit off modding, as the floorpan has raised points that are there to clear things like the cats that early 2nd gens don't have. Problem is the seats also have changes in bracketry to fit these changes, so if you use later pans you'll have to either mod the pan seat mounts, or mod the seat brackets.
I'd guess if you have the talent to install floor pans you can do the mods, but it will take a lot of chopping and welding on new pans.

National Parts Depot has these. I believe they go to the base of the foot area. Classic Industries has them a little cheaper. I use NPD because I can save shipping picking up local.

C-12900-4A FLOOR PAN, FULL LENGTH, LH, 49 1/2 INCH OVER ALL LENGTH, 20 GAUGE METAL, DOES NOT INCL TOE PAN OR UNDER REAR SEAT PAN, REPRO $109.95

C-12900-3A FLOOR PAN, FULL LENGTH, RH, 49 1/2 INCH OVER ALL LENGTH, 20 GAUGE METAL, DOES NOT INCL TOE PAN OR UNDER REAR SEAT PAN, REPRO $109.95

Both ship UPS oversized so I'm not sure what that would add to the cost. Hope it helps.

Thanks for the info and help. The piece I am needing mostly is the toe pan area, the previous owner cut it out cause he said he needed room for the headers he had. I just figured I would replaced the whole area since I am going to be in there anyway.

So I am on the search for toe pans as well since they aren't included in the full pan.

Really it comes down to this. Are the catalytic converters a big deal to you? If not the other will work. But really, just replace what needs replaced. You've got bracing, the frame rails and over things you'll need to work around for dull length pans requiring spot welding as well as perimeter welding. If you jet need toe panel cuts you can find someone willing to cut them out for you I'm sure. More Likely over on nastz28.com though.

Not sure anyone makes the toe pans for them, and they wouldn't be tough to fab with some 18ga. sheetmetal and a cheap Harbor Freight metal brake. I use one a lot for fabbing metal and well worth the $60 to have one mounted to the work bench to keep it handy.
