Vall, if it comes near you, get there at all costs. I still can't wrap my mind around 4000+ cars. We (me and a buddy) are scheming on how where gonna run the whole tour next year. He was stationed in Texas for years and was the guy who hooked me up with my Nova. He pulled it out of a field and drove it home INSIDE a U-Haul. Anyhow, he still has friends there and now were thinking we should visit.
Not sure if you noticed, but the Pacific NW is a long way from So Cal too! And I know how long the Power Tour has been going, but it's never been anywhere near the Pacific NW.

I wasn't insinuating you didn't know about PT, sorry. I guess it is probably a long ride to California for you too. I guess in my head I thought well there neighbors it can't be far. I can drive around Lake Michigan in two days or less and cover four states. A trip to Cali is a week at least. On the map it doesn't look far lol. Just watch Ax Men. They make Washington look like a neighborhood.

A trip to Ca. is a day, but I'm only 5 miles from the Wa. border. A trip to So Cal is 2 days, and it's not a huge distance, but longer than I want to go for a car show. I can make it to Hot August Nights in Reno in one day and there's well over 4,000 cars there between entrants and all the visitors not entered. They have 3500 entrants, and twice that in just nice cars that show to cruise. Not worth the extra day, or having to put up with Ca. traffic.

I've heard of Hot August Nights. I want to plan a trip to Vegas around it. Then drive out to Reno and check it out. I drove to 12hrs to Memphis just to watch the NMCA finals. There and back in a weekend was fun. Specially the dudes laying under our truck looking at the exhaust when we stopped at a convenience store. Freaky for sure.

Yeah we got a Good Guys show here too about 3.5 hrs. away though. It gets 3500 cars each year. Haven't made it to one of those yet either. I like shows, just can't do a whole weekend or even a long day of a car show. I'd really rather be driving my cars than sitting and watching cars. That's part of what I liked about Hot August Nights was the cruising.
I used to go every year, but haven't been there in probably 10 yrs. or more.

Power Tour was set up different here. We had three main lots for cars, all on different elevations too. One on a lake (big lake) one at the Harley dealership, and one in the center of downtown. All less 200 yards from each other. The way they set up traffic we could cruise downtown without traffic jambs. Then right on the main drag the burnout show got crazy. There were vendors from everywhere too. If you go to HotRods web site there is video of a 87 GN on the chassis dyno. That was overlooking Muskegon Lake. After the show ended there was a bonfire on the beach at Lake Michigan during sunset. Ok I'm done bragging our town up. Just was different, really different.

I know exactly what you mean Vall. Sitting in a lawn chair would get boring.

To me that's the real appeal of the Power Tour! The fun of driving what we built with other guys, and stopping occasionally to view each other's cars. It just seems like that's what I consider real hotrodding!

Ole Blue '74 - The flares on the Camaro are formed out of steel. Pictures do not do the car justice. If you like the pictures, you'd REALLY like it in person. It's an awesome car!

The Power Tour is a great event. If you ever have a chance to do it, it's worth the trip. Lots of cars and then special shop visits between shows. For the West Coast, Car Craft Magazine has the Anti-Tour! We joined that this year and had a blast.

Funny thing, I can't get away from this car. First we talk about it here. Then I see it. Then someone brings up on here again. Now HotRod Magazine has a full feature on it this month. If you guys go past a news stand check it out. The picks in there do it justice. For the record, the flares are fiberglass. Its covered with pics in the article.
