Default Finally added my Gears

So I installed my 4:11. In a few weeks I will install a PowerTrax locker.

Anyway, All I changed were the gears and the crush sleeve. Same carrier same bearings, same housing. There is a very subtle wine on deceleration. At first I wasn't even sure it was a wine. Thought I was just listening to hard. After driving around 75mph for a few minuets I am certain it is a wine. This isn't like your normal earth shattering wine or howl. This is very hard to notice and only on deceleration.

Is this acceptable?
Do new gears wine a little?
Should I take it to a shop and have it re shimmed?

Did you paint the teeth? If not I would to get a idea of gear mesh. How did the louvers work out for ya?

Louvers arrived in one piece. I need to get them painted, but I am trying to figure out how the hing should have worked. I can see they were just taped down, but I really thing there was a way to hinge the main piece so you can clean the window.

I may just tap them on, but I am not ready to give up.

No, I was completely lazy and did not paint the teeth. I figured I would do that when the car comes home. Depending on what everyone here says.
If, they defiantly shouldn't make any noise I wont bother I will just take it to a shop. I hate shops. If some noise is normal I will paint them.

That should be done EVERY time. Sorry about the hinge deal. I don't have a clue how it works. Could use a piece of alumimun angle riveted to the trim. Then a shoulder bolt for a hinge point. Oh yeah how did the seat of the pants feel with the new gears? I bet it layed you back alittle better.

I am dying to get it on the track to see the times.
I went from 3.23 to 4:11. There is a big difference.

Shifts a lot sooner and a hell of a lot better launch.

Don't even drive it if it's whining! It should not make noise, and if it does it's already wearing the metal on the gears and may be too late if you've driven it much. I had the same issue in one I tried to do and by the time I got 10-15 miles on it getting to a rearend shop the gears were toast.

I have had re-ends whine that bad. It isn't like that. There is a very very subtle wine type noise on deceleration. Im not 100% certain it wasn't there before I changed the gears. If it was my old M22 I would think it was the tranny. This is a very very subtle sound that gets louder as I lean my head back and toward the drive line.

Im not driving it, at least not till I hear from all you guys.
