Factory Z28 resonators
I know the exhaust system would be over 40 years old but is there anyone who has a 1977-81 Z28 with the original factory resonators? I'm wondering what how they sound compared to a turbo style of muffler.
Back in the 80s the guys with the late 70s/early 80s Z28 and Trans Am's would add headers, delete the factory cats and run the exhaust thru the pair of factory resonators and out the factory tail pipes. This exhaust system was one of the best sounding I ever heard. It had a nice throaty rumble at idle, at full throttle it woke the neighbors and downshifting it had a nice crackle all without any drone inside the cabin. I'm in the process of building an exhaust system for a project car and would like to replicate this setup just for the sound.
