control arm/ ball joint

Default control arm/ ball joint

i went to replace my control arm bushings and the ball joints consedering im redoing the car i figured i would redo the front end. but when i went to take the control arm off. the header pipe and the steering rod are both in the way. do these have to be removed or is there a way to get this off with out removing those items. any tips would be great - Jon

i cannot get this control arm off. do the bolts slide out and you can take it off or they dont.... im really not sure any help on this matter would help greatly thanks

How are you trying to take it apart? You want to remove the two big nuts that hold the upper control arm shaft to the subframe. Then slide the control arm/shaft assembly off the studs. Is that the way you're doing it?
EDIT: I forgot to mention, if you don't have enough engine clearance to slide the control arm off the studs, you'll have to whack the studs in to get them out of the way. Be sure you have the nuts wound out to the end of the studs before giving them love-taps so you don't ruin the threads.

hey camaro69. thanks for the input. about 20 mins after i posted my last post. i figured it out. my last few post i have not been so specific. but yes. i was taking the control arm shaft off, along with the entire control arm. i tapped the side of the stud and it loosened up. and i just worked the two out. presto they were out. thanks for your help though.
