Continuous power to the heater blower
Hello all,
New member here, and yes, it's because we have a problem. '79 Camaro Berlinetta that I bought in the mid-'90s for 2 sons; one still has it. At the end of May he was driving around and smoke filled the cockpit. He shut it off and called me. When I got to him, he turned the key on again, and more smoke from under the dash and from the vents. Shut it off again. I looked under the dash at the fuse panel, looking for a burned wire or other sign of a short. I didn't move any wires except to touch a speaker wire from an aftermarket stereo we installed years ago. Turned the key on: no problem. He started it with no issues and drove to my house about a mile away.
Symptoms that I remember from attempts to locate a short: no fuses are blown. The heater blower runs with the key off. At that time, but not since, the left turn signal, both front and back, stayed on; i.e., did not flash. Moving the turn signal lever with the key off stops the blower. We replaced the blower relay mounted in the right side of the engine compartment near the air conditioning hardware. No effect.
Does anyone have suggestions on where to start looking for some 12 volt source of power to the blower?
Cheers,

Update
The problem with the blower running continuously has (finally) been resolved. According to the mechanics who fixed it, it was some kind of thermal switch in the heater circuit that failed.(This is second-had information via my son.) Thought I would pass this on in case anyone is following this thread.
