Default Comp cams thumper cam?

I' ve been helping a friend all week with an engine swap in his '56 Chevy. I know, not a Camaro, but it's getting a '71 Camaro 350 with TH350, so the engine specs apply.
Anyway, I rebuilt the heads, put a new Edelbrock Torker on it, fenderwell headers, and a gear drive setup. He had ordered a Comp Cams Thumper series cam and lifters for it, and we stuck that in today also.
Did the normal start up and breakin, so couldn't really hear the true idle of the cam due to the rpm's at breakin. After the breakin was done I idled it down and reset the idle. I was quite surprised at how lumpy the idle was! That cam really sounds radical, but after taking it for a spin it drives completel;y different than it sounds! It's really got a lot of bottom end torque and HP, and performs amazingly!
I may have to consider one of these to swap into the 327 in my little Austin gasser!

I just read an engine review that had one in it and they thought the same thing. Sounds radical, with nice manners on the street, and they have different levels where you can still have your power brakes.

He went with the CL12-600-4 I think. It is supposed to be the mildest of the small block Thumpr cams, but it idles like a darn race car!

Thats why I speced out that Thumper for AXEL. They sound awesome. Its the long exhaust duration.

I don't think these cams get enough credit. I'm a little foggy right now. Just got up. Axel?

He's a new guy. Asking about a cam a while back. He picked out the biggest on the page. (Anyone of us have done it) After Val and I convinced him that 310* duration was just too much, he canceled the bigger one and got the Thumper we told him was gonna sound like a race car but still run like a champ. Honestly I bought the Voodoo in my motor well before Thumpers cam out. I don't know if it would have changed my mind though. Voodoos come with a sweet decal for the tool box and I got a free t shirt from Summit.

I tell everyone at work when I point to one. Yup that sticker was 200 bucks or what ever. They look puzzled until I explain they com with an expensive part and I don't just put them up because.
