Default Coming down to the wire, need some advice from experience

Ok, so you all know of this 77 LT ive been looking at. Its in great running condition and it runs pretty good. alil trouble starting and alil trouble turning off AT TIMES we started it up 3 times and it ran fine for 2 of em and shut off fine for 2 of em. The one time it didnt run fine was because the overflow hose had come loose and was flappin in the fan lol. and when we went to go turn it off it sputtered like it wanted to keep runnin but the lady said just push the gas and after that it shut right off.

So my tech questions about it. It needs new weatherstripping (because it leaks alil) Is that a do it yourself job? Im trying to save as much as possible and say I did as much work as i could without machine help. It doesnt really leak but it has had moisture in it. Prior to its posting for sale it was garaged daily and driven ALMOST daily meaning the dash was slightly warped. Im not looking to build a cherry out of a.. raisin.. but I am looking to make the value go up so when i do want to sell it i can get some money back. The engine runs fine, its got theHydratranny (no clue what that is.. I asked if it was TH350 and she said no and then said its a 305.. but i dont think she knew i was talking tranny not engine) its got 122k ALL ORIGINAL! SHE HAS THE RECIEPT FROM 1979!!Its runs just like a well oiled machine. The only problem i saw was cosmetic and minor things (like the weather stripping) wasclose to a foot or so long crack in the driver sidequarter which was either bondod or fiberglass.. i cant remember.. and the door has a little bump level with that quarterdamage that left the trim alil worn.Is there any way I could have the crack fixed, theMINOR dent fixed in the door and have newdriver sidedoor moldings put together and on the car either myself or at a low cost? Also, the gas pedal was VERY stiff is this a camaro thing? and the seat seemed a bit far away from the steering wheel/pedals (then again i am only 5'8") is this fixable so i can sit higher and closer [8D]to compensate for my shortness lol.

Also what would a fair price be for this car, its got some rusted spots that will need to be cut away (small section behind thefront passanger wheel) its got thatfoot or so long crack in the driver side quarter, its got squeeky wipers (blades?) it has minor leaks, the trunk has a nicecoat of rust (didnt look too deep or too bad, itwas just everywhere) the engineran fine started fine but it looked a bit old and the headers looked rusted. The intake hose.. or w.e itis was tattered. Its only got a 305 with 122K(or as the speedo says 22xxx(but shes had itsince 79 so i trust its 122K and not to mention it runs greatm brakes great and turns great)and its got some funky hydra transmission that is supposedly manual ANDauto. Its got a VW stereo and a free floating equalizer. The interior is almost perfectbut the seats have minor wear, thepassenger seatbelt doesnt workunless you open the small lock un the winding mechanism. Thedash is a bit warped but not cracked rims look alil funky. But it has a lifetime warranty on batter and front end alignment. She wants 2500 but i want to offer her less because i cant afford 2500 really and put work into it (new paint,cutout/weld etc.)lol.

Most of the issues you mentioned are things you can fix yourself. The weather striping is easy to do, unless you've never done it, just take your time. www.classicindustries.com should have what you need. Rust in the trunk is typical, sand it away and get some POR15 to coat it, the other rust should be fixed when you get a chance.

The moter issue, you said it seemed like it still wanted to run after it was shut off. This is commonly refered to as "run on" or "dieseling" and is usually timing related or it means it's carb adjustment time. A chiltons manual and/or the good folks at www.camaroforums.com will be able to help you.

All in all it sond decent, I would try and talk her down a bit though, never hurts to haggle.

Ok so 2000 offer was made, she compromised from 2500 to 2300, sounds fair enough to me. NADA put it as low condition 4000 medium 8000 and full 12000.
