Carrier Series

I was wondering, if I have a 2 series carrier, can I change the ring and pinion out along with the carrier?

I believe that Richmond Gear sells a thicker ring gear set for use on the 2 series carriers without a spacer.

I was not able to find the thicker gears, but I did find the spacers.
