78 X28 Camaro
350 bored 30 over stock pistons
new edelbrock performer 202 heads
new edelbrock performer cam
new edelbrock performer intake
new holley fuel pump
edelbrock 600 carb
HEI dist
short LT1 plugs
timing is 12 deg
idles fine,
when you excellerate from idle, lag and bang die and hard to start
Is a 600cfm carb big enough?
It will not even idle down the street

Is that 4deg going to make that much difference?
and that should be without the vac advance plugged in?

Is your vac line ported, or to a constant vac source? Check that the advance weights are not stuck.

while you may have too much timing, I would also try going higher, my car I had set at 13 degrees, sent it higher, the probs went away

Ported
New HEI

but what could cause it to have such a low vac? (other than an obvious leak)
