Default Cam with gear

Which gear ratio would be better with the Voodoo 60102 cam? 3.23 or 3.42? I don't want my car to be revving too high while cruising. About what RPM would it be at 60mph with each gear?
Look in sig for specs.

That's a pretty nice cam, and one that will make a nice street cam for your car; (Duration 262/268, Lift .468/.489, ) Either gear range will work, and at 60 I doubt you'll be much over 2,200 unless you have extremely low profile tires using the 3:42 gears.
I think you'd be able to even run a little lower and not be revving to much down the highway, but 3:23 would be a little too doggy out of the hole.

Thanks, I'll probably be getting the 3.42 gear just to save a little gas, instead of going smaller on the gear. Is there any specific brand you would suggest?

Can't say as I've purchased enough to call out any as the best. Richmond has a great reputation, but I think you can save about $50 by buying the Summit brand that's made by Richmond.
The biggest cost will be having them installed. The gears run around $150-$250, and installation will run about the same.
You might consider finding a good used rearend that's got the gear ratio you want. Then swap rearends and sell your old one to recoup some funds.

Whats an estimate of pulling a rearend out of a junkyard?

I think you'll find one for about the same price as a set of gears. Just be sure to pull the cover and do a visual inspection first. Might also check Craigslist too. I've seen them on CL for under $100 every so often. What ratio do you have now?

Yeah, I've checked craigslist, but haven't found one yet. I have a 2.73 non-posi right now. Suggestions on what to pull one out of?

A 2nd gen Camaro or Firebird. Anything else will need mods to work. Not sure about the width on the later 3rd & 4th gens, but if the width is right, they might also work by welding mounts from a 2nd gen on the axle.
Just keep checking Craigslist, as they do show around here about once a week. Saw one today from a 79 Firebird for $150.

Sounds like a pretty good price, if only I didn't live so far away. Is it posi, cause thats what I need. But, haven't got the cam yet. I've got the money for everything, but just haven't bought anything. Which would make a bigger acceleration difference, the 3.42 gear or the 60102 cam? I've just got the time to do one thing at a time right now.
