remember, I was in second gear not third. In third gear I was around 3000rpm

60' = 2.552
330 = 6.905
1/8 = 10.340 @ 72 MPH
1000 = 13.278
E.T = 15.769
MPH = 90.53

 

Right but your shifting at 6000. So I gave you another 200 rpm just for when you are running it out. You will want to hit the traps right when the motor is at its peak rpm. I did the calculations for third gear don't worry. Like I said now with the gear picked out you have an rpm to shoot for. You may not get to the finish at 6200 right away. But now you know that a 4.11 w/26" tires will turn 117 mph at 6200.

Lets take what is already known. Your topped out at 90mph. With the 4.11 you will be spinning 4780 @ 90 in third gear.

15.7 sucks, 13.7 would be freaking sweet. My goal this year is to run 13's. I figured it would take everything above, plus cam, lifters, and NOS.

I wont predict times. I'm just tellin ya what the calculators told me. I will say a 90mph trap should be around 15 flat. So where did the other .7 go? Tire slipage. Lazy tranny shift. Tons of things.

 

How do you know that 90mph = 15sec?
Is their a calculator for that somewhere?

My tire was spinning for about 2 car links.
Then again the tire slips slightly when it shifts.
No tranny slippage, shifts very strong.

.4 sec would probably be my response time (.444).
First time on a track.

Other then that I have no idea, what all effects
the overall time. I think I can get a better launch
with more practice.

Tons of these out there. Most arent real accurate. But you can get a good idea. The gear calculators are good. Thats just a math problem. For et there are alot of variables.

 

Unless you call Summit and find out who makes those gears for them, I'd rather pay a tiny bit more and get Richmond gears. If Summit tells you their brand name gears are Richmond, then go for those. Otherwise get these:

you may want to think of a shift kit to help it will definatly help i went from 308s to 373s in my 84 and it made a huge difference you should be able to get to 14s with drag radials gears and a shift kit

And a holy carb. LOL sorry. Devine induction. All the rage in Colorado. Again sorry. Couldn't help it. Does it snap the gears? Shouldn't be any lag. Its a real bummer not knowing the cam specs though. It would at least help you pick your shift point. What do you have for tires on there? If your spinning out of the hole now. You can expect to blow the things off with a 4.11. Shock set up too. Whats under there? Cheap things to do there to get some transfer. Bat in the trunk. Just thinkin out loud. Or with my fingers I guess.
