Anyone else have a base sport coupe?
Hi All,
I'm just curious if I'm the only guy around here who drives a base sport coupe with a 229 V6 (or something comparable). I'd like to make some upgrades at some point but not this year. Here's a picture of my '80.

very nice, if mine came with a cleaned up stock 305 i would of kept it completely stock, but it just needed an upgrade bad. i do like your 80 tho, looks real good, have any pics of the 229?

Mines pretty close...was a 305 2bbl with 4-speed manual trans only options were power steering, power brakes, and posi rear axle. Now it has a wicked small block with big exhaust cowl hood, and soon will put in the 4.10 rear axle.

Lets see my 70 was the SS/RS..my two 75's were LT's my 76 was also an LT but my last one was the 80 with the 231 V6 and the Saginaw three speed... till I blew the V6 on a cold Minnesota morning.

Glad to see I'm not the only guy with a plain Jane sport coupe! I love the look of that blue '81. Seems like a steal at $2,500. Then again, I have no idea what it's like to try to sell one of these things in this market. I'll post a picture of the 229 tomorrow. The previous owner actually replaced the stock 229 with a brand new 229 manufactured by a place called Capitol City (I think) located out in Richmond. I'm not sure why he stuck with the 229 -- maybe he didn't want to replace anything else but the motor or maybe he just liked getting decent gas mileage.

I turned my plane Jane sport coupe into a autocross capable beast. 383 w/ a 4 speed. Then added all the stuff to make it look like a Z28. There just shells to me, I'll make it look the way I think is best. I'll also modify just about anything.

Building a plain Jane is better then a Z28. I am planning to drop a 6.0L into my next beast. Will need to weld in some extra stiffness into it so I don't fold the thing or flex it when it corners! Now to find the right clean car.

Yeah that is a steal at $2500! That's pretty much what i got mine for and when i was thinking about selling it a got several hits on it at $6000 and the only thing that has been done is a fresh paint job. Other than that the interior needs a lot of work, needs completely new wiring hardness cuz the previous owner did a very shotty job... Also the exhaust is worthless... What made you sell the 81 to paint the 80 and not visa versa?
