Default AC to Non-AC Swap

Helping a friend change his heater core. The AC doesn't work and he wants to pull it out to give more room for his big block. This is a 79 Z28 car. Will a non-AC blower cover for the firewall from a non-AC car directly work to just replace the AC blower cover??

Thanks...

Nope. The holes in the firewall are totally different. You can get an American Graffiti AC delete cover though for it. There are other alternatives too. One of them is actually made of fiberglass and is a bit more solid than the AC one.

Or, you can cut the part off of the one you have, and fiberglass the hole over and make your own AC delete box.

I would be interested in how those delete kits look and how they fit. Do you have to do anything inside the car. I have done the heater core in it already and really don't care to do it again if ya know what I mean.....

I have a plastic one. I don't recommend it. Look how close it is to the header. I plan on some type of reflective heat tape on there.

Is that plasticone the one that they sell at American Graffiti???

You might look into some good header wrap. That stuff is really supposed to cut down on heat. I wish I would have done mine before I installed them.

How about some header wrap on the back tube Damon?

I'm really considering wrapping them. It was the plan since there UGLY. But then I got in touch with Jet Hot and they have a new coating that looks like chrome. I want a guarantee but they kind of have double talked a little when I asked.

To bad z28, if your asking about the heater cover I got it from Camaro Central. I jumped because it was 50 bucks cheaper than the one in NPD. Theres a fiberglass one out there I just don't remember who sells it.
