I found the VIN on the rear end of my 81 Camaro. the VIN is 2PAG2751. After looking it up in my books I know that the PA is a 2.73 gear. G=Gear of Chevrolet 275= day of year made which is October 2nd. and 1 stands for day shift.

My question is is what is the 2 stand for and the beginning of the VIN? It even shows the 2 on my original build sheet I found with the car. But none of my books ever talk about this extra digit in the VIN?
