Default '79 z28 moldings

Could anybody tell me if I'm correct when I say that an original '79 z28 should have black moldings around the rear window and windshield? Everything I've found says they should be black but I want to be 100% sure before I do anything with them.

Thanks.

You are correct, all front and rear moldings should be black, side and drip rail moldings remain chrome across the board... I've attached a couple pics of my 77 and 81, both have black, I've also owned a 79 Z28 in the past and they were black as well...

Yes they were black. And they were simply polished aluminum mouldings that were painted with no proper paint prep. As a result, the paint was prone to peel right off of the mouldings as soon as the car hit rain. If you remove the mouldings, they can be sanded and alodined or otherwise primed before repainting if you want the paint to stay put.
