Default 79 Z28 LS2 6spd conversion

I have pretty good knowledge on repairs and building cars, but ive never messed with a conversion like this, and im dead set on doing it. Im looking for anyone who can give me advice on how to go about this, and what all I am going to need to accomplish tho.

Obviously im gonna have to build some custom gauges, a wiring harness from scratch (which ive never done) and some fabricating to make things fit.

Am i also gonna need to swap out my rear end, or should it be fine with the conversion?

Any and all information is well appreciated.

No reason to change anything on your wiring harness. You will have to jumper out the neutral/clutch safety switch if you go the hydraulic clutch setup. You need to also have your driveline yoke changed and the driveline reworked to fit the output shaft of the new 6 spd. trans.
A crossmember needs to be reworked, or a kit crossmember used to fit the mount on the 6 spd. There are actually kits made for this swap that make life really easy, if you google "T56 conversion to 2nd gen Camaro" you'll find a lot of them.
No reason to change the rearend, unless you don't like it now.
It's not a cheap conversion, even if you already have the trans. Expect to spend around $3,000 if you don't have the trans, and about half that even if you do. More if you don't already have a 4 spd. in your car, and you're changing from automatic to stick!

Yeah im aware its gonna be pretty expensive. The car is automatic, and i still have to find the trans and motor to put in it, its looking like 6k for the motor and trans, not counting everything else I need. Seems like his is gonna be a pretty easy swap aside from the price?

The swap is getting pretty common. Edelbrock was the goto place for mounts and headers, but from what I hear the quit making the headers already. You might try to score that stuff now, there cheap and the fit is spot on. I would google the mounts and headers. Once you have one in the car then worry about the details. No sense in over thinking it. I know you want to plan for it the best you can but there are no real surprises other than needing to tap into the cooling system for an additional line. (think small line 3/8 or so)

Carb or EFI? That is all that matters. A carb will need a Edledbrock or GMPP intake and MSD box for the plugs. There are literally dozens of kits out there to do this. GOOGLE

Since you're going from an automatic you have another decision to make. Go with stock pedals and linkage, or go aftermarket pedals and a hydraulic clutch master/slave throwout setup.
If you go mechanical, then you need to find different parts vs. hydraulic. You'll need to replace the brake pedal at the same time, it's too wide from a automatic.
