79 Z28 Build sheet
Hey guys, I am new to the forum and also new to Camaros. I just recently purchased my first Camaro about 2 months ago. Advertised as a 4 speed car. So I grabbed some cash and my trailer and went to go check it out. Upon inspecting the car I had noticed it was a California produced car. I read online that in the 79 model year no manual transmissions came factory in california produced cars (Correct or not?) Anyways, I ended up buying it because I didn't think it was a bad deal even though I had figured it was not a factory 4 speed. Fast forward 2 months ago to yesterday, I had pulled the gas tank out to flush it and low and behold there was a build sheet still attached to the gas tank. I removed the build sheet and set it aside. Later on I started to study the build sheet, and come to find out, the car was produced at the Van Nuys plant and has engine code DRF, transmission code UH, and does have M21 4SPD TRANS in the options list. Also the build sheet has "customer order" in the bottom right corner with what looks to be 2 or 3 digits that I cannot make out printed before "customer order". Can anyone shed some light on this for me? I would greatly appreciate it. Also I have some pics attached.
Something doesn't add up,the Muncie was replaced by the BorgWarner ST-10 after 1974 so it didn't come with a Muncie.

That's what I thought. Like I said I'm no expert I'm brand new to Camaros but I thought something was weird. I had the car jacked up today and I checked the transmission out and it's all aluminum, and I can see where it says Borg Warner right on it. Also I studied the build sheet a bit more today and the 3 digits before "customer order" are 3 X's. Any more info would be greatly appreciated!
Do have the other books that came car.Like the owner manual ,and warranty book.? Mine was originally a automatic car .A 1979 Z-28 RS with all the bells and whistles..A good source of information besides this site is your local Camaro club.
Well then it's a T-10 not a Muncie. A T-10 would be the correct trans for that year car, nothing wrong with a T-10,same design actually although parts don't interchange.
