79 Z 28 Exhaust
Hi Everyone, I'm new to this Camaro forum. I have a 79 Z28, currently I have a summit exhaust system on it from the headers back. I think I might of cut the intermediate pipe a tad too short is my guess because when I stand behind my car and look at the mufflers, they look alittle bit too low to my liking. I'm able to use the factory tailpipes to get that factory look. Has anyone out there used a different type of exhaust system like Magna Flow from the headers back. If so do u have any pictures of it as well? Thanks
Hey, I had a Jegs kit in my 81 Formula. I think I did the same thing as you. Mufflers hit the lip of the floor well. Tail pipes did not ride over rear axle very well either. I took that off and got a system from Pypes. The fit on the car was much better and the system as all stainless also. Was a little pricey though. I have since sold the car and bought a 72 Camaro. Still had the old jegs system and tried to put it on the camaro after I put headers on it. Still didn't fit right.Wound up cutting it off behind the muffler and putting turn downs on it for now.Thinking of going with the flowmaster kit next time around since it is a little cheaper and I'm not looking to put out massive amounts of horsepower anyway. If money was no issue though I think I would go with Magnaflow. Also Pypes and Flowmaster offer the crossflow muffler that tucks up behind the rear end like stock. Better ground clearance. By the way, nice looking car.
I have Magnaflow, 2.5" stainless, headers back, with an X pipe. Look nice and sound nice. Fit is good, I can pull the mufflers up with the hangers they give you (have to drill your own holes), but they do hang a little lower than stock since originallyit didnt have true duals.
