79' preformance upgrade help
I have a 1979 camaro berlinetta with a 383 stroker and a TH350 Tranny. I have Edlebrock Performer RPM heads, cam, and intake on it, 750 carb, 2800 stall converter, 3.73:1 gear ratio, and everything else on it is basically stock with the 350 motor you get from GM. I was looking to get a little more power into this car. So if you guys have any ideas, it would be greatly appriciated if you could throw some at me. Thanks guys.

RE: 79' preformance upgrade help
Do you have regrets about not going "all the way" with the engine build or something? That's not exactly a slouch of an engine now, are you going to race the car? You're looking for "a little" more power? Yeah, right! It won't stop at a little. Most everything you would need to do to gain more h.p. would require opening the engine back up. One thing you could do to remove a little extra drag is to take off the belt driven fan (if yours is) and put on an electric fan. I only need to run my fan in traffic, otherwise it stays off. But that would be a small gain.
Did you just take a stock 350 GM crate motor & stroke it, and nothing else?
Internal things you could do:
Lightweight pistons/rods
A different cam
Port the heads
Balance the rotating assembly
Shave the heads to bump compression, and that would require you to burn premium gas.
You have to decide if the h.p. gains would be worth the effort and cost.
All those things I mentioned have been done to mine. But it's a lot easier to have had it done when it was built the first time. I also thought about getting the Performer heads for mine, but my iron heads have been reworked enough, I don't know if the gains (if any) would be worth the cost. The weight savings would be a benefit though.
