About the only way you are going to get the window down is to is to remove the door panel. This will give you access to the window mechanisms. You may be able to put power to the motor and bring the window down, or you could probably dsiconnect it and push it out from the top. It would be much easier to get a replacement switch.

The switches are pretty easy to jump, so next time you can try that. First use a test light to determine if the switch has power on the common. Just test from each of the wires to ground until you get one to light. That will be your common. If it has power, then you can jumper at the switch from that wire to either of the other two wires and drive the window up or down.
If there is no common hot, then you've got a problem ahead of the switch and need to locate the fuse to see what's up there.

The common hot goes to a splitter under the dash, then to both window switches. Start at the door hinge area and trace that pink wire where it comes into the dash area. Eventually it will lead to the splitter where both sides join. I found one of those bad on my friend's '73 Chevy truck and replaced it. Everything worked great after that.
Turn the wipers on and put your hand on the motor. You should be able to feel if the motor is running. If it is then you'll have to pull the motor and check the linkage. Might be it's fallen off inside.
