Default 72 project. Input?

I got my car back from body shop a couple of weeks back. Here's the progress so far. Click on the camera icon on the left for the pics. Engine is 10.5:1 396 with comp magnum 280 cam, 1.7 rockers, gasket matched and mild porting on heads, edelbrock RPM Air Gap intake, Holley 750 double pumper. 1 7/8" headers into 3" duals with H pipe. 6 speed trans with Centerforce Dual Friction clutch. 9" rear with 4.30 gears and mini spool. Car is lowered 1 1/2" all around. Tires 285-40-17rear, 245-45-17 front(all 4 BFGG Force T/A)on Torq Thrust Classics with spokes painted to match stripes. Power steering, air, power brakes and tilt steering. By the way, has a Kicker/Panasonic sound system, too. I still have the interior tofinish. What do you guys think so far?

its lookin great, Nice to see someone else workin on a 72, I know many people dont like the 72 they say the REAL Camaro died in 1971, But I disagree, the simple fact that the strike cut production nearly in half makes it that much more special to me. IT is lookin great, keep the pics coming, could you post one of the front clip?

Nice car! I wish my 72 had the one piece spoiler, I think they look cleaner than the high unit. 74LT, I like your thinking, lower production numbers may someday make our cars more desireable.

Very nice, it's looking good. I also like the billet accessory brackets, nice departure from the boring stock style. You do have one heck of a big overflow bottle though, you expecting a flood?

The overflow bottle was a cheap one I found at Summit. It' ll work. Don't have anything else to go there anyway. I bought a big block serpentine system from GMPP, but a/c was too tall and hood wouldn't close. I wanted a less showy look under the hood, so much for that. As for the model year, there was no thinking involved. This one was the first early 2nd gen I found. I guess I lucked out with the low production numbers. I have a kid with a 5.0 wanting some. I'll let you guys know what happens. I'll post more pics(outdoor) when I get a chance. Thanks!!

thanks pony, how low is your vin# mine is #9501 produced. I could not have been happier to find that car. Great to have some other 72 lovers and owners finally talkin to me. Seems everyone is more prone to love the 70 or 71. Curious really, Let the pictures keep comin.

I don't know how your summers are, but you might want to be sure the AC works. So many remove or disable them, but it makes those cruise nights or trips to shows much more enjoyable.

It looks good. Good luck with it.

Oh, you can bet the A/C will work. I live in Se OK and summers are tough. I've outgrown the concept of removing accessories to reduce weight. This car is loaded- A/C, tilt, ps, pb, and radio.
