Default 70 camaro tail light gaskets

put new tail light gaskets on my 70 z28, does anyone know are you suppose to use weather adhesive to hold them in place? the old ones slipped right off so i just put them on without adhesive, but im worried they might leak, thanks

No, there's no adhesive needed, but be sure the tail panel openings and the tail lamp housings are both clean. Dirt can affect the seal.

still leaks, i noticed there was a small lip on inside of trunk around each taillight, but there are two places that are actually flat?? it looks like its made that way though?? do u know if yours has that lip completely around each tailight? i may have to just put some black weather adhesive on inside i guess, that stuff is so freakn messy though its hard to put on neatly.

If some portion is flat it probably was in an accident at some time and not straightened correctly. The best fix is to get some foam adhesive material and cut it to fit the new foam. Then install it under the new foam to space it out and make a better seal.

Don't have my car here to look at what you guys are talking about but can't the seals be drawn up tighter by simply tightening the speed nuts on the posts the housing mount over?

If they aren't out of thread they can. Might even be able to put a spacer under the nut to get more pressure, if the tabs aren't warped and the housing isn't touching outside the gasket area.
