I'm almost 40 and have a dream about trip through Route 66 with muscle car. I'm looking for possibilites to make my dream come true but it is very difficulty, because there is only few rental offices and they don't have exactly cars which I want. Maybe You can help me? Maybe somebody of You could rent me that car? Or maybe You know somebody who can rent me muscle car for that trip? I'm thinking about Camaro 70's/ Firebird 70's / Charger/Challenger 70's / GTO 70's . Ofcourse I need car which cope with that trip. Start in San Francisco/Chicago- end Chicago/San Francisco. Could You help me with this?
Regards
Arnold

If you are thinking of an individual renting his muscle car it is very unlikely unless you can find a moron. Rental companies have insurances that are way above and beyond what a regular policy will cover. These cars are fast but without modern safety equipment, they do not steer or brake like a modern car. It takes time to to learn to drive one. They are also 50 years old so they can break easy and if anything has ever been repaired less then 100% that would add another level of liability. This is one of the main reason rental cars get rid of cars car while they are are newer with low miles. They know the cars are beaten on and they do not want to have to get repairs done.
You ever heard the term "Drive is like a rental car."

Sorry, but no person in their right mind is going to rent their own collectible and valuable vintage car, to someone they don't know, to have them put on well over 2k possible abusive miles, with the likelihood that it isn't going to return in the same condition as it left. Then you also have the approximate $800 trucking fee to have the car shipped back to where it came from. You'd be better off buying the car, because I wouldn't enter into a deal like that unless I was given a security deposit in cash, covering the full market value of the car, plus some.
