Default 70 accelerator cable

ok so after much reading i ordered a new accelerator cable 336969 from jegs (OER brand) it is the exact length as my old one,but heres the problem the rubber grommet that fits in the accelerator bracket by carb on the new one is an inch to far up the cable so it puts a pretty good bend in the cable. It will work but i don't really like the fit as its in a bind and also the other end at firewall doesnt fit flush, does anyone make an exact replacement? thanks

Is your car getting a concours restoration? If not, then I'd probably go aftermarket on the throttle cable and have a perfect fit. I've used the Spectre universal throttle cable on my '71, plus four other cars and they are great! Only $25 at my local OReilly store too.
