69 camaro radiator
i want to swap out the radiator in my 69 because it runs to hot... 210 to be exact, because i am swapping in a 350 in place of my current 307. when looking at radiator, i see some that say that they are for manual transmissions and others that say that they are for automatic trannies... what does the radiator have to do with the tranny... i have a turbo 350 so do i have to get one of these auto radiatprs, cause i want to swap out the turbo 350 someday in favor of a 6 speed.... does anyone know anythiong about this radiator swap... any knowledge would help alot thanks.
You will, but you're probably better off buying one for the manual, and just getting a transcooler to mount in front of the radiator. It'll give you more effective cooling once you do make the T-56 swap, as there will be a greater amount of coolant in the radiator. You should also pick up a 180 degree thermostat, that'll allow the coolant to flow at slightly lower tempritures, and therefor allow the engine to run a little cooler.
Couple of questions..1. Did it always run at 210? Reason I ask, I put a new radiator in my 68 with a 195 degree thermastat. Running it stays at 195, when I just sit for awhile it may climb to 210. Once I'm moving again, it'll drop right back down.
2. Do you see any presense of anything leaking?
3. Have you ever done a back-flush on the system?
I've also seen this happen when a water pump is on the edge of taking a turn for the worst. Just a couple more things to consider.
