4 point harness and bar 79 camaro
Has anyone installed a harness bar in a second gen camaro? I just bought some racing seats and tried looking for a harness bar online but can't find anything that would work. I am aware that this is something that may need to be custom made, so I am looking for any help or tips. If you know anything that could be useful please reply, All help is greatly appreciated guys.

Made mine from tubing and mounted it to the floor, then ran back supports through the package shelf to bolt to the trunk pan. Mine serves double duty as a non spec rollbar and place to mount my harnesses. My back supports are a slip fit with a bolt to hold them to the main hoop. All the feet have plates that bolt in.
This is an old picture from before it was painted, but you can see what I built:
If you don't have a bender you can take your tubing to a fab shop and have them bend to spec, then take it home and weld the plates on. The stubs for the rear supports on mine are about 3"-4" long, with a 1/2" throughbolt.

Thanks for the reply. Nice car! So you basically custom built a 4 point roll bar. That convinced me to jump on an 8 point roll bar I have been eyeing for a while. Should be here within 2 weeks. I will be sure to update on how it goes.
Also if you could describe more on how the harness is mounted to the bar. You said "slip fit with a bolt" and I got lost lol sorry if I come off sounding ignorant, just trying to understand clearly is all.
Thanks again for the reply!

The harness is not slip fit with a bolt. The rear supports for the rollbar main hopp are slip fit with a bolt to hold them on. Made installation a bolt in for the rollbar, rather than welding inside a finished interior.
The shoulder harnesses simply have the ends looped around the rollbar and then threaded back through the buckles you see just below the window opening in the picture. No bolts or attachments needed to keep them there, but the padding on the rollbar keeps them from slipping or moving. Without a pad you would need something to keep them from sliding off and down the vertical upright.
