Default 305 not idling rochester by carter carb

New to the Camaro as well as it is the oldest car that I have owned. I was fortunate to have the common sense and intuitive thinking in my DNA. Usually from watching my father work on his old cars growing up. I was too little to really learn anything and he is no longer around for me to ask.

So here I am, with a car 10 years older than me. And I am not as familiar with some of the workings of it but generally the same concept as the new cars today, but just a little easier to work on as everything isnt hidden somewhere.

Starting her up and she will get going easy but without throttle she wont keep it going. I am not sure where to look or where to take the first step.

Its a 4 barrel Rochester made by Carter. I cant find any diagrams or what is what. I tinker with it here and there but I havent changed anything, 'yet'.

Any help or something to point me in the right direction. First carbuerated engine.

Thanks

You need to adjust either your choke butterfly windup, your fast idle (passenger side on the choke linkage), the curb idle (drivers side front of carb), or all three.
Here's a Quadrajet Service Manual to follow: http://www.bdub.net/manuals/Quadraje...anual_1981.pdf

Thumbs up

Just what I was looking for!

The smart guy before me took the tags off the carb.

Thanks again
