The front end is not a problem to swap the whole clip, but the rear could be major work. If your car needs lots of rust repair in the quarters, then not a big deal as you'll be cutting lots of that area away, but if not I'd just change the fenders, header panel, and lower valance. Hoods interchage, so you could keep that.
Might be able to do some creative metal bending in the rear to fill in where the molded bumper was, and install a early bumper, but if you went with the back panel and lights it would be major.
As for whether the "camaro world" would shun you; I'd says it's no big deal. If I didn't have a 1971, I'd go the route of swapping the front end, and just rework the rear whatever way was cleanest, or leave the rear as-is.

It is a lot of work, but go for it. One caveat though. If you are ever in an accident either your or the other insurance company could balk on paying for repairs if they find out you have removed the crash bumpers. Insurance companies would rather keep their money rather than paying it out. Just a caveat.
