Default 1980 Z28 Can get fuel to carburetor - Bad fuel pump???

Ive been trying to get my 1980 z28 running. It was setting on previous owners land non-running for 5-10 years (not really sure how long).

Anyways, I bought an inline fuel filter, changed the carburetor filter and was able to get gas to the inline filter and fire up for about 1 minute...
Fast forward after replacing the radiator and replacing a few belts on the motor. I poured some gas in 4brl and it started up again but died after like 10 seconds. The inline filter looks dirty and no gasoline is making into the see through plastic cylinder.
Im now thinking bad fuel pump and need to replace??? Also, should I take off gas tank and empty out, clean inside best I can at same time of replacing fuel pump?

Any insights appreciated

Could be a rubber gas line collapsed inside itself, you should have drained that tank or replaced it before starting the car given you don't know how long it's been sitting.
Rubber gas lines should probably have been replaced as well.
Fuel pump may be full of crud from running old gas through it.
I'm guessing you didn't drain the tank before adding gas to it?
Gas starts going bad in about 30 days especially ethanol gas, with Stabil added it will last a year or two but eventually it's going to turn to varnish goop that clogs things up.
I would look at replacing the tank all the rubber lines and the fuel pump, probably get the carb rebuilt or replaced as well.

Thank you Sir,

I had a gut feeling the gas tank should have been STEP #1...... Ill look to disconnect and clean , replace fuel pump (AND) check lines as suggested. I appreciate the feedback. Hopefully I can get that done in next 2 weeks and be able to say its running now.

Thanks again

You could check for fuel pressure but likely all the stuff you mention will need done soon even if it ran today. The only real reason to run the motor now is to verify the car worth the work. If you want to do that just run a hose from the inlet on the fuel pump to a gas can. If your tank is rusty inside it needs replaces or sealed. You can get kits that will coat the rust.

One thing I found is pretty common is the sock in the tank will plug up and not allow fuel through. But that assumes you are no longer are getting fuel to the pump. You can use compressed air to "clean out" the sock but in bad cases it just blows the sock off.
