1980 Camaro - New headers hit. Suggestions?
This 1980 Camaro is my first project car. I've got new headers for it, but they hit the the frame. Not the main part of the frame, but some sort of cross member that connects the frame to the main cross member for the engine. Now I'm still pretty unknowledgeable about cars in general so help me out if there's a better name for these cross members then just cross members. They're fairly small and run at about 45 degrees or so to the side of frame. They don't really seem to have much purpose other then more support for the engine, but they seem far to small to help the main cross member much. However, when I put in a 305 v8 they new headers for the engine don't fit because these small cross members are in the way. Any suggestions? Thanks.
is that what known as a sub frame. lol, not sure what there called either, can u noch them and make it work. call the header company and ask them if there the right ones for your car.

Sounds like to me you have wrong headers for your car.If you cant get a set of long tube headers to work they make a set of short tube headers that will allow you to run exhaust to headers with no problems.I have a 77 camaro with 350 and i had no problem getting long tube headers to work well with nothing in the way.
Are you talking about the little angle iron looking braces that go from the main frame to the cross member.I took those off and left them off.they were going to be an issue with my headers to,i have a 454 in mine .i really didnt see the purpose of those braces.not all cars came with that brace or maybe someone took them off before i seen the car
