I've never rebuilt an automatic trans, always had someone do them so I can't reccommend a kit. As for what converter, it depends on cam specs. What's the specs, or what rpm range did it say it operates at?

My cam operates from 2000 to 6000 RPM. I was thinking of getting a 2500 stall. Some people say i'd be better off with a 3000, but I really don't know.

I know most people say to error towards the higher stall converters, so it wont be an issue at idle, but I tend to go the opposite way. I'd go with the 2500 also.

As far as transmission kits go most of the kits that you can get are pretty good. The lip seals are larger then stock seals so they are better then the kits that you can get through your dealer. Some of them even have different springs for some of the valves in the valve body to take care of some of the known issues in a particular model transmission. You might just want to call around to your local transmission shops and they may even have a kit in-stock.

I use B&M street/strip shift kits... They work pretty good and are easy to install...

As far as converters I have had good luck with TCI converters. I am using one now that is 2800 to 3000.. I think it works pretty good, and you don't have to really rev the engine to get the car to start moving. It is also stock diameter so it doesn't generate alot of heat like the smaller diameter ones.

Does anyone know what the stock converter is rated at??? I want to say it is 2200 to 2400.... only reason I ask is that you might get by with the stock converter...

In case you can't find a local place that sells the kits the Transmission shop that I have dealt with is A&A Performance transmission in Mooresville Indiana. (317)831-3000. The specialize in mopars but they have the stuff for most brands.

I think stall speed for a stock converter is much lower, around 1800-2000 I believe.
I'm using a Transgo kit in my '71 Camaro, but it's been in there since 1982, so don't know how their stuff compares today. Mine is the full manual competition kit, and it's got probably 60,000 miles on it now, plus a lot of 1/4 mile passes. Been a great reliable kit, but I don't hear much about Transgo these days.

Yeah, I think the stock stall is around 1600-1800 RPM. I need to make a decision though....the car is painted!

I hope to put my motor in the car soon so it can all be put back together. I'm going to try and work on it this week and replace all the front end bushings and stuff so i'll put some more pictures up when some visible progress is made.

New paint is nice! That's a big step on the check list, and very exciting to get done!
