Just purchased a fully restored 1974. When i fully pull that pita hood release from under the bumper the hood pops but i cannot open the hood while on my knees pulling on that hood release. Is there a fix or some type of aftermarket fix?

 

If I remember right it is just a spring loaded lever, If its tuff to pull my guess it needs some lubrication, maybe some penetratingly fluid first.

 

So I received the replacement hood latch PART #: 33-183565-1 from Rick's Camaro, in Chrome no less! This seems to improve the latching and the release of the hoods the new latch spring allows it to have some tension after the release of the primary latch so the second pull on the release allows the hood to get past the safety catch. I would suppose over time the spring will weaken and then I will probably attempt to shim with washers.
