So I'm buying a 1974 Camaro soon. Its really cool... haha I like it lots.
I got some plans including painting it shiny black (its matte black now i may keep it matte for awhile). Black or blue interior.
One thing i wanted to do was see if there was some sort of replacement for that meaty 5mph bumper... I know its there because it had to be... and that it would probably be illegal to change it? But people do small illegal mods and get away with it...
So i was just wondering if anyone has an idea if there is some sort of smaller and more stylish front/rear bumpers that i can purchase![Smile](https://camaroforums.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Something like this:

I tried looking for something but i can only find bumper replacements.
Just wondering if this is like... a thing. hahaha
thanks all

The front bumper looks bad untill you get tagged by a honda crx. I had no damage at all. lol
I've looked into the same subject for a wile for my 76.
Most people build there own set ups form fiberglass or color match and tuck it in.
Heres a few pics I've saved. Hope they help you.

The best choice seems to be the cheapest also, and that's to rework the stock bumpers. The material lends itself to cutting down easily, and it's mostly labor. I've seen guys not only remove all the excess weight of the factory mounting, but also trim down the back edge of the bumpers to allow it to be tucked back in even further.
Once they're pulled back, some of the depth removed, then color matched to the car, they look pretty nice.

Sweet! Well I bought the Camaro today and drove it home mostly. It had a problem and stopped at a stoplight about 1/2 way home after about an hour of highway driving... not sure what happened. Might have over heated. It just cut out. and yes, it has gas. and a minor oil leak.
Its nice to know that i might have some options with the bumper
thanks guys
