Default 1969 SS w/mods...what's it worth?

Check out this link.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEBI%3AIT

What do you think it is worth? Is this a good deal for 15k to 20k, or a rip off? I'm a little upset at the guy cuz he failed to say there was a bit of rust on the vehicle, but other than that it looks great. I know nothing about Camaros. Opinions?

AS long as #'s match motor to body and you were able to get all original parts, your sitting pretty good. Make sure it's a true SS by checking the body #'s. Good luck

It's not the original motor, that's for sure. Dunno if it is a real SS, either, I can't get the guy to respond to any of my emails. I'm close to pulling my bid.

Personally I wouldn't buy anything without personally seeing it. Especially for that much money. It "seems" like a nice car, and up here they would go for about that. Im not really experienced on those camaros and their values though. I hope he gets back to you!

i have heard so many horror stories about paying for a car that is gorgeous and when it arrives, it is trashed...there are actually companies who have agents all over the country. lets say you want to buy a car in san diego, and youre in new york city. you contact them, and they have an agent in the area who has a certification that is very hard to get and very expensive who goes and views the car, then appraises it and explains their appraisal. for that amount of money, i woudl look into a company like that or go see it yourself..

it does look like a nice car. 15k i would say would be a fair price depending on what you want it for. it is obviously made to be raced. so if your looking for a driver i would look at other cars. if your looking for a race car it might be a good buy. where did he say the rust was? I would still like to see the car in person before i spent that amount of cash though.

15 in change is a lot for that car i think.. #'s dont match.

It sounds fast and maybe.. but speed isnt everything when you look at older cars.

Somethings i liked:
12 bolt posi (moser parts in rear end)
LS7 heads.. (thats pretty beast)

Somethings i didnt like: (there are a lot but i'll name off a few).
-Restoration was no good, turbo 400 tranny with clutch pedal stil in the car?
-don't really like turbo 400 tranny's.. they are built stronger but i like turbo350's for personal reasons
-shifter looks VERY cheap.. (the semi-center console)
-The aftermarket gauges...(cheap aftermarket bolt on's)
-Covered seats (usually means their ripped)
-MSD igition isnt the greatest..
-used cheap chrome alternators and pulleys.. (get all those for about 500 bucks anywhere)
-The paint is definitely no good.. whats with the black bumpers and the cheaply painted on stripe? (not original look especially painted SS)
-The 4" cowl hood.. (some people like it but i dont)
-missing lots of stuff like left side mirror, ss badges, original rims (those rims gotta go), and lots of other original stuff.
-you can tell by the front end, the bottom part, that the paint looks cheaply done.

Other than that and a few other things.. the car seems solid. But im for certain that if im throwing over 15 in change for a 69 camaro.. i rather spend 20-25K on a #'s matching ss with OEM parts.. (well not ALL oem but most of it should be).. and a hell of a lot better paint job.

But hey.. it does have a big block motor (you can get a big block 454 at a junk yard for 1500-2000) and moser internals in the rearend.. (if it really is moser.. dont really know unless you crack it open; then again would you crack it open just to check?)

Spend your money wisely.. there are better cars out there that really reflect the price.

my ride:
coming soon: 383 stroker 68 camaro (all original: minus motor)
Bored 2.4L porsche 914
RIP: 2000 supercharged e46 bmw =(

i agree about the interior. If there are seat covers then there are most likley rips and that means 500 for new covers. I would check others out.
