1967 camaro headlight and alternator issues
hi, my 67 rs camaro has a few wiring problems. first of which i replaced the regulators for the headlight doors and now they open when i turn the lights off and close when i turn them on, nothing is different with the regulators, but the guy who had worked on some wiring screwed somthing up but i duno what, have any ideas? The next is that my alternator is not putting out enough so i bought a new power master. Although the powermaster is internally regulated and the 67 camaro is not, how do i change over my old externally regulated alternator to internal. Another issue i have is that my headlights burn out every couple of months and i have gone threw 2 batteries and on my third in the past 3 years. i had alot of ground issues b4 but i got those covered for now i think. Could it just be the alternator? thanks for your help.
Good chance the headlight doors are wired backwards, try reversing the wires.
The internally regulated alternator will work fine, there should be wiring instructions with the new alternator, wire it up and then just get rid of the external regulator. How many wires on the new alternator? You can't change an externally regulated alternator to internal regulation. Your headlights burning out is indication that the voltage may be too high, and also the batteries may be going bad from overcharging. Make sure the alternator to battery cables make good connection, and the alternator and battery grounds have clean connections to the engine, body, and frame.
