Default Chrome or Polished ??

Hey Guys, I'm thinking of changing up my wheel and tire combo. on my 69. I'm looking at the Americans really hard and I'm 85% sure I want to go with the Chrome finish with RWL tires.

BUT I'm curious about the polished wheel. Guys that have Chrome or Polished wheels for awhile now... are you happy or wished you made a different choice etc.

Well polished requires some maintenance but can always be brought back, chrome is great and easier to keep nice until it rusts and or or peels then it's done for good.
If it's a garage queen that doesn't get driven in the rain chrome would be fine, personally I like the look of a well polished aluminum wheel better but the upkeep is some work.

There is chrome and there is really nice chrome. IMO it is tuff to beat a wheel that has been dipped in copper then multiple layers of chrome. That type of chrome is pricey. It normally only happens on high end wheels. Polished parts these days can be clear coated with ceramic, most come that way. Again IMO polished Aluminum can only be so shinny but a lot of guys do not like the mirror chrome. Polished aluminum is much easier to repair if damaged. It can cost more to repair a chrome finish then the wheel costs on a mass produced wheel. Your best bet is to just look at the wheels in person and get what you like.

Glad you enjoyed it,I was in high school in the '70's (class of '74) but didn't get a Camaro until '77.
This pic is from about 1981 if memory serves.

I was shocked at what these original old rims are selling for. People are even restoring some of the damaged rims out there. Amazing, you could buy them for a little over scrape rate in the late 90's.

I bought the 69 Camaro I have now in 1984 same year I got hired in a Machine Shop and started my Tool & Die apprenticeship. I later bought my FRIST House trailer and graduate High School in 85 and thought I had the world "figured out". Married by 86 and you know several Cars-Bikes-Women-Houses have "come&gone" and I STILL don't have this world figured out.
But I still have my Frist Love and her paint code is 72 and she STILL turns me on...LOL
