Default 1967 convertible under floor supports

Hello all. I tried the search tab but couldn't find anything about the under floor supports. My car is a convertible and one of the previous owners opted to pop rivet sheet metal over top of the rusted under floor supports. I have my car on a two post lift and would like to replace these supports. I have found the replacement parts on a few different webpages. They are fairly priced and I am competent I can weld them. My main question is, can I do this with the car lifted with a two post lift? I would do this one side at a time, I'm just concerned with the car being on a lift and something failing with the car. I have the front of the lift on the front sub frame just in front of the body mount and the rear of the lift on the front of the leaf spring right at the front mount. The car is secure on the lift I'm just wondering if this can be done on the lift. Does anyone have any experience with this repair? Thank you for any help.
